SANFORD — Mr. David Patrick Linney III, age 63, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born in Wake County, NC on December 3, 1949 to the late David Patrick Linney, Jr. and Barbara Moore Linney of Sanford. David graduated from Marlette High School in Marlette, MI and was self-employed for many years with Cafco Hospitality.

In addition to his mother, David is survived by his wife, Sharon Murchison Linney; son, Joshua Linney and wife Harper of Florida; stepson, Scott Stone and wife Bethany of Ft. Mill, SC; stepdaughter, Ashley Brown and husband Joseph of Mint Hill, NC; four sisters, Jeanne Cooper, Barbara Linney, Dianne Braren and Jo Ann Ezell; and four grandchildren, Madison and Jordyn Stone and Payten and Carter Brown.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 1, 2013 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church and a memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Arnold B. Lovell and Wendell McGee officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 203 Hawkins Ave., Sanford, NC 27330.

SANFORD — Robert W. “Peanut” Shaw, 68, of 500 Dudley St., died Sunday (2/24/13) at the VA Medical Center in Durham.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Shaw of Sanford; one grandson; a sister, Dorothy Alexander of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of Charles and Vicki Shaw Anderson, 1907 Knollwood Drive.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at First Church Disciple of Christ Cemetery in Broadway.

No wake will be held.

CAMERON — Funeral service for Margie Hellen Fulbright Hancox, 75, who died Saturday (2/23/13) at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines, was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. with her son, Pastor Tony Hancox, presiding. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery.

Recorded music was played.

Pallbearers were Skot Hancox, Michael Woods, Tony Lester, Cleve Lester, Derek Hancox and Levi Lester.

SILER CITY — Ruth Emma Graves, 87, of 3617 Lambert Mill Road, died Wednesday (2/27/13) at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts & Son Funeral Home of Siler City.


PITTSBORO — Funeral service for Stephen Edward Harris, 81, who died Friday (2/22/13), was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Russell Chapel AME Zion Church in Pittsboro with the Rev. Charles Howard officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

The church choir sang. Soloist was Mildred Brooks.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Maybelline Harper Moses, 76, who died Sunday (2/24/13), was conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church in Four Oaks with the Rev. Bob Copeland presiding. Burial followed at Four Oaks Town Cemetery.

Pianist was Beverly Peters. Tony Lucas gave a piano solo. Fred Honeycutt sang two songs.

Pallbearers were Lee Dowd, James Dowd, Chris Hildreth, Chris Harper, Bobby Harper and Jimmy Guy.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Flora Aleane Stewart Campbell, 71, who died Sunday (2/24/13), was conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Overhills Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy McLamb and the Rev. Jonathan Newton presiding. Burial followed at Calvary Methodist Church cemetery.

Pianist was Joyce Holder, the congregation sang one hymn, and Dot McLamb and the Rev. Ruth Holder sang two selections. Recorded music was played. Eulogies were given by Morgan Cockman and Angela Norton.

Pallbearers were Allen Jackson, Dean Brewer, Raymond Campbell, Tim Cable, Ernest Daw and Richard Campbell Jr.

SANFORD — Janice Lee Hall, 73, died Wednesday (2/27/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born Aug. 22, 1939, to the late Richard C. Hall and Dorothy Stuart Hall. She was a payroll clerk for the Town of Hartford, Conn.

There are no surviving relatives.

Burial will follow at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield, Conn.

CARTHAGE — Charles “Larry” Holder, 71, of the Haw Branch Community, died Tuesday (2/26/13).

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Red Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott McInnis officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was a lifelong member of Red Branch Baptist Church where he served as a past deacon and Sunday School teacher. He worked with the Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Team, traveled to Sri Lanka and other disaster sites helping rebuild homes for the needy. He was elected for five terms on the Moore County Soil and Water Conservation Board. He served as past president of the National Contract Poultry Growers Association. His past employment included Tax Appraiser for Moore and Lee County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ada Holder; brothers, Ralph, Bill and Robert Holder; and sisters, Inez Allen, Louise Gossett, Betty Sullivan and Polly Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Margaret O’Brien Holder; sons, Wilson Holder and wife, Bethany, and David Vallas; two granddaughters; a brother, Pete Holder of Carbonton, and many loving nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Red Branch Baptist Church.
