JOHN WAYLON PATTON SR.
LILLINGTON — Funeral service for John Waylon Patton Sr., 79, who died Tuesday (4/15/14) was held Friday at Lillington Church of God. Burial followed in Harnett Memorial Park.
Rev. Keith Fox, Rev. Alton Childers, Rev. Kenneth Boyd and Rev. Lee McKinney officiated.
Ashley Porter played piano and also gave the eulogy. Pallbearers were Frank Clark Jr., Rawney Clark Sr., Timmy Wheeler, Jordan Porter, Clint Mason and Zach Mason.
Arrangements were by O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.
ROBERT "BOB" FRANCIS KELLY
SANFORD — Funeral service for 1st Lt. Robert “Bob” Francis Kelly, 24, of Sanford, who died Sunday (4/13/14), was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery with full military rites.
Pallbearers were Staff Sgt. Stephen Showalter, Sgt. Ryan Thomson, Cpl. Brandon Henry, Spc. Myles Kidd, Spc. Cameron Sloan and Pfc. Ryan Williamson. Flaggers were Sgt. Joshua Simmons and Spc. Derick Campbell. The honor guard escorting the family was Chief Warrant Officer 2 Adam Klein.
Eulogies were given by Valentino Roman, Nashonte Yosef Hill and various other family members and friends. Recorded music was shared.
Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
LESTER ALLEN GAINES SR.
ANGIER — Lester Allen Gaines Sr., 78, of Angier died Friday (4/18/14).
A 3 p.m. graveside service will be held Sunday (4/20/14) at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bear Creek, with Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iley and Ollie Gaines; son, Timmy Craig Gaines; and brother, Ray Phillips.
He was a Chatham County native and a self-employed carpenter. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faye Godwin Gaines of the home; daughters, Diane G. Ingram and husband Mike of Asheboro and Denise G. Young and husband Mitch of Willow Springs; son, Buster Gaines and wife Kay of Bear Creek; sister, Louise Gilchrist and husband Charlie of Bear Creek; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

DELLWOOD, FLA. — Robert Eugene McMillan, 81, died Thursday (4/17/14) at his residence in Dellwood, Fla.
He was born in Sneads, Fla. on Oct. 17, 1932, to Lawrence McMillan and Trudy McKinnie McMillan.
Gene joined the U.S. Army in 1949 at the age of 17. He became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, serving four years. After discharge from the Army he worked for the Corp of Engineers until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement from the Corps of Engineers, he was self employed as a contractor for a number of years.
Gene attended the First Baptist Church of Bascom, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Lillian Page and Audrey Fulton.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Earline McMillan; sons, Jackie McMillan and wife Sandra, and Timothy McMillan and wife Brooke of Sanford, N.C.; brother Glenn (Mickey) McMillan and wife Joanne of Lexington, N.C.; sister, Helen Brooks and husband Ed of Durham, N.C.; step-children, Greg Roberts and wife Traci, Lynn Price of Marianna, Fla., and Connie Tyus and husband Steve of Sneads, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a special niece Kim Morris and husband Troy of Vass, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday (4/21/14) at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel in Marianna, Fla., with Rev. Greg Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday (4/20/14) at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
