SANFORD — Funeral service for William O. “Rocky” Nowell was held Thursday at Center United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Chris Humphreys officiated with organist Melody White-Humphreys playing special music for the service.
Pallbearers were Jerry Brown, Brian Estes, Norris Johnson, Jason Nowell, Jeremy Nowell and Jonathon Nowell.
A graveside service followed at the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery, with family members receiving friends at the church fellowship hall following the graveside service.
Arrangements were by Miller-Boles Funeral Home.

BUIES CREEK — Charles A. “Chick” Adams Jr. died Wednesday (8/7/13) at his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Greensboro to the late Charles and Mildred Adams. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Elsie and brother Donald.
He graduated from Duke University. In 1980 the family moved to Fayetteville and he began his own company, “C.A. Adams & Sons” the liaison between the paper mill and the printer. In 1990, he retired to Buies Creek where he served on the Presidential Board of Advisers at Campbell University. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia; three sons, Donald and wife Jeri of Ocean Isle Beach, Wes and his partner Todd of Hollywood, Calif., and Lucas and wife Christina of Lumberton; a daughter, Mary Lou White of Buies Creek; a brother, Jerry and wife Jan of Winston-Salem; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek with the Rev. Max Eller and the Rev. Jim Aycock officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at the home.
