JOHN ANTHONY WICKER

SANFORD — Funeral service for John Anthony Wicker, 61, who died Tuesday (3/5/13), was held Friday at 11 a.m. at Swann Station Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Blackmon officiating.

Various family members and friends shared personal memories.

Piano solos were by Ralph Harrison. Soloist was David Peele accompanied by Rev. Russell Blackmon on the piano. Pianist and soloist was the Rev. Russell Blackmon. The congregation also sang.

Active pallbearers were Phil Parrish, Tracy Parrish, Michael Oglesbee, Gene Dickens, Todd Arnold and Phil Liles. Honorary pallbearers were Mack Conder, Jeff Batchelor, Ned Cummings, Carl Gaines, Charlie Jones, Jim Sandlin and Merle Bowe.

The cremains of Mr. Wicker will be interred at Cameron Grove Cemetery at a later date.

RUBY BOOTH PRICE

ROBBINS — Ruby Booth Price, 83, of 1099 Wilson Road, died Thursday (3/7/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pine Mountain Friends Church with the Rev. Robert L. Kidd and the Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

She was a Moore County native and worked 45 years as an Administrative Assistant at Burlington Industries.

She is survived by her husband, Jackie Price; daughter, Linda P. Russell and husband Jimmy of Robbins; brother, James Booth of Carthage; stepsister, Virginia Brady of Wilmington; stepbrothers, Arthur Purvis and Lester Purvis, both of Robbins; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, and other times at the home of her daughter, 1031 Wilson Road, Robbins.

USSERY GRANT BURNS

SANFORD — Ussery Grant Burns, 85, died Friday (3/8/13).

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Shallow Well Cemetery.

He was born in Lee County, a son of the late Peach C. Burns and Vester Womack Burns. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Burns, and a brother, Percy C. Burns Jr. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II serving the 333 Engineers, and a member of Sanford Chapel. He worked for many years with Southern National Bank, Womble Chevrolet and Sanford Toyota.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Saunders Burns; one brother, K.P. Burns of Sanford; and many nieces and nephews.

LESSIE CADDELL

CARTHAGE — Lessie Caddell, 92, of 952 Currie St., died Thursday (3/7/13) at her home.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Person and Mary Johnson of Carthage; one son-in-law, Denzil Covington; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Steven of Canton, Ohio, and Mary Hill of NewYork City, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Sunday at Stoney Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Carthage. Wake will be held today from 6 until 7 p.m. at Stoney Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

BENNIE ROBERSON

SANFORD — Bennie Roberson, 71, of 5312 Arrowwood Circle, died Monday (3/4/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

He is survived by his daughters, Crystal Yolanda Roberson and Brandy Nichole Roberson, both of Sanford; a brother, Sherman Roberson (Shelia) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Aljewel Swann of Powhatan, Va.; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 906 Bryant Drive.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel.

REV. GERALD BRIDGES SR.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Rev. Gerald Bridges Sr., 87, who died Sunday (3/3/13), was held Friday at 2 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Ira Sutton, Dr. Greg Burriss, Pastor Matt Martin, and Joe Liles officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pianist was Kristin Johnson. Organist was Frances Phillips. Soloist was Steve Bristow. The congregation also sang.

Pallbearers were Robert Griffin, Stephen David Bridges, Larry Dewayne Bridges, Greyson Hill, Jared Bridges and Joe Liles.

ELMER SANDERS

EAGLE SPRINGS — Elmer “Bug” Sanders, 80, of 15315 NC Hwy 24-27, died Thursday (3/7/13) at his home.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Voncannon officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was a Moore County native and was a potter. He attended Bright Light Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty W. Sanders; sons, Danny Sanders and wife Patty, Gary Sanders and wife Mary, all of Eagle Springs; sisters, Evelyn Pittman of Little Washington, Pauline Everette and Flossie Nall, all of Eagle Springs; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren amd three step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church, and other times at his home.

RUBY WHITE BEAL COLE

GOLDSTON — Graveside service for Ruby White Beal Cole, 74, of Goldston-Glendon Road, who died Tuesday (3/5/13) was held Friday at 2 p.m. at Hope Cemetery in Bonlee with Chaplain Jamie Pearce and the Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Soloist was Mrs. Fern Beavers.

Pallbearers were Alan Moore, Brantley Webster, David Smith, Danny Gaines, Pate Lee and John Sawyer.

Arrangements were by Smith & Buckner Funeral Home of Siler City.

RALPH LEE STOUT

SOUTHERN PINES — Ralph Lee Stout, 82, died Sunday (3/3/13) at FirstHealth Hospice House.

A Celebration of Life service was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sandhills Assembly of God with the Rev. Bryan Rainbow officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield, W.Va.

Born Dec. 19, 1930 in Falls Mills, Va., he was a son of the late Hascue and Etta Hart Stout, and was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Galbraith, and two brothers, John and Deral Stout.

He was a retired Locomotive Engineer for the Norfolk-Western Railroad.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patsy Blackburn Stout of Whispering Pines; two daughters, Vicki Poe and husband Anthony of Bennett and Sharon Henderson and husband Robert of Fuquay-Varina; two sons, Samuel Stout and wife Kathy and Joseph Stout, all of Whispering Pines; four sisters, Doris Hall and husband Jack of Whispering Pines, Phyllis Herrick and husband Calvin of Prestonsburg, Ky., Charlotte Stout of Richmond, Va., and Wanda Powell of Mechanicsville, Va.; one brother, Warren Stout and wife Carol of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
