LETTER: Taking back our streets
To the Editor:
I totally agree with David Pierce Sr. (Letter to Editor, Oct. 29) about taking back our streets. My family lived on Goldsboro Avenue for more than a decade, and my home was robbed several times while my husband and I were at work making a living to support our family.
We saw drug sales taking place daily next door to our home. We would come home to broken windows where [individuals] would sit next door and throw their 40-ounce beer bottles at our home. We called the police many times and told them where the drugs were stashed and how they were selling them. We offered our home to the police to do surveillance and were ignored. The police said they had to catch them in the act. Basically, as long as the thugs weren’t in their neighborhood, they didn’t care.
