LETTER: In praise of Poly Cohen
To the Editor:
Local politicians should make Poly Cohen’s legacy an example to follow. He and I differed on many issues that I raised with the city council in public meetings and in private conversations. He always listened.
Poly would explain his vote in terms of how he felt the matter would impact the interests of city residents. ... Most importantly, a person who disagreed with him was still greeted with sincere warmness and a continued willingness to listen.
Poly believed that political opponents need not be personal enemies. I am sure he accepts the judgment of the voters wish similar grace. He will likely find ways to continue to serve. Maybe even I could find a civic project that we could tackle together. I am sure he would at least listen.
