LETTER: We have no time to waste

To the Editor:

Sanford is our home, and we love it here. We have good family and friends with deep roots. We need to hold on to what is good in Sanford while electing people who will push it forward in the right way. Sanford can be so much more than it is right now if we get behind the right ideas and values. More importantly, we need someone who will stand up for all of our citizens, regardless of origin, gender or race. We need a mayor who will bring people together in a positive and caring way.

Chet Mann is that person. He values education and believes that a quality education is the cornerstone of a community. He has worked for it at CCCC as a trustee and on the Lee County Education Foundation. He has worked to raise money to help working families with after-school care and summer camps through his service at the YMCA. He chaired the “We Build People” campaign for the YMCA that raises money to assist low- to moderate-income families to have a safe and spiritual place to care for their children while they are at work. He also believes in economic development and will focus on attracting new jobs to Sanford. He wants to revitalize Sanford and Jonesboro and give everyone a fair chance to gain a job and have a town they can be proud of.

I know Chet and his wife, Missi, to be honest and true to their word. I also believe he will fight for what is right and provide strong leadership that heals, promotes and rebuilds the city of Sanford. We need leaders like this. We have no time to waste. Please join us in voting for Chet Mann and electing him mayor on Sept. 10.
