LETTER: Obamacare’s impact will continue to be felt

To the Editor:

The Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare) is under continued scrutiny and de-funding actions within Congress. Proposed as being the “holy grail” for health care, it is turning out to be a disaster after many have finally read the bill. The impact on businesses with numerous regulations is stifling. Many businesses are making changes accordingly to minimize the negative impact to their bottom line.

They are reducing working hours from 40 to 29. They are changing employee medical benefit packages to only cover the worker. The unemployment picture is changing with part-time workers increasingly replacing full-time workers; the 40-hour work week will be ending! Unemployment numbers will rise with this model. This has several unions furious.

The good news for some businesses are mandate delays for one year; the bad news for Americans is the actual impact will be felt after the 2014 election.
