LETTER: When you vote, think of the future

To The Editor:

I moved here 28 years ago, and I like Sanford. I think it is a town that is continuing to grow and is progressive.

However, citizens of Sanford, when voting in November you may get what the town doesn’t need — a bond of $21.5 million for things like the expansion of the Endor Iron Furnace Greenway at a cost of $5 million or more. Although the town could use some sidewalks, are they necessary at this time?

Who is going to pay for this bond? [The answer is] he present homeowners and the now 8- and 9-year-old children as adults. The town is now also thinking of raising the real estate tax on the homeowners again.

When you vote in November, think about the future. Sanford should live with the funds they have and stop living like the federal government. Maybe I’m just too old to understand what is going on. I grew up during the Depression, and I never buy anything if I don’t have the funds to pay for it.
