LETTER: Let’s make dog park a reality

To the Editor:
I have recently learned about a group of Lee County residents who are working tirelessly to bring a dog park to Kiwanis Family Park. What a wonderful idea!

We all need to get behind this, support it any way we can. This is being built with public support. This will be a park for the people of Lee County and those very special family members who need a safe place to play, a place to get the exercise they need.

Those of you who know me will remember our baby, GAT. He is no longer with us, but what a wonderful way to honor the love we have for him — the unconditional love he had for us — than to have his name on a plaque to be placed at a park that honors and loves our four-legged babies. This is going to be a first-class dog park, a place for our babies to be able to run free safely with a group of “friends” of their own size and their own activity levels. All babies will have to be current on vaccinations and up to date with their health records. There will be “poop” disposal stations, shade and water, benches and restrooms.

There are so many ways we can help bring this dog park to Lee County. We can purchase tags for our babies, and we can buy plaques to honor them to be placed on a section of the fencing. Mr Business Man, what better way to get your business advertised?Look how many people will see how much you care. That never hurts your business. You can donate a bench or disposal station with a plaque that has your name or business on it. There is so much we, as individuals, can do to help make this dog park a reality. Come on, Lee County, lets help get this done. Don’t our “babies” deserve a safe place to play?

Let’s see how quickly we can help get this done!
