LETTER: The law is clear on conceal carry
To the Editor:
I would like to educate Neil Rotter on his letter to the editor on June 15. You can already open carry in any establishment except government buildings and school property. The existing law states that you can't "carry concealed" into restaurants that serve alcohol by the drink, which includes places like Applebee's or Ruby Tuesday; once your first alcoholic drink is consumed, then you are not supposed to conceal carry no matter where you are. It will still be unlawful to conceal carry into bars, places that only serve alcohol.
Remember that North Carolina is still an open-carry state. I can still go into these places and open carry unless there is a sign posted in plain sight telling me that I cannot. This had nothing to do with the NRA also. The NRA does most of their work in the federal branch of government.
