LETTER: Attack on Forest was unwarranted
To the Editor:
Mr. Jon Silverman’s Aug. 27 letter to the editor was not “shocking” to those that understand that this trial lawyer is known for bombastic rhetoric.
Making derogatory remarks about Lt. Gov. Dan Forest shows how disgustingly angry left-wing zealots have become.
Dan Forest is one of the nicest and most cordial people that anyone can meet. He may disagree with someone on policies, but he does not demean or personally attack them.
Mr. Silverman failed to mention that Democrat Deb McManus, who represents Chatham County and part of Lee County, was invited to Mr. Forest’s town hall meeting and participated in the discussion. I don’t recall Democrats inviting Republicans to participate in such meetings. This reflects upon the outstanding character of Mr. Forest.
Mr. Silverman’s reference to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood in his diatribe about Republicans trying to lower personal and corporate income taxes is nothing less than diabolical. It should be pointed out that the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic killers’ growth and violence have been greatly enhanced by Barack Obama’s foreign policies during the last four-and-a-half years.
Mr. Silverman also railed about the economic conditions, and like Barack Obama blamed everyone but Obama and Democrats. However, these are Obama’s unemployment numbers and his food-stamp economy.
Mr. Silverman and Mr. Obama’s goal is simple. It is to shut up and shut down those who dare to criticize radical assaults on Americans’ freedoms.
