Proud to be a Sanford native
To the Editor:
I am not one who reacts in writing to news good or bad. As I was watching the national news tonight, I believe it was mentioned that the 26 Christmas trees sent to Sandy Hook Elementary School were from Sanford, N.C.
Having grown up in Sanford and having attended St. Clair Elementary School in the early 60s, I have such fond memories of my childhood and of all my friends who I grew up with.
I now live in Edenton, where my husband and I chose to raise our children who are now ages 28 and 25. They, too, have fond memories of visiting their grandparents in Sanford, who lived long enough to develop a strong relationship with them.
All I wish to say is thank you to the person responsible for the donation of the Christmas trees in memory of the lives lost in this tragedy.
I am very proud to be a native of Sanford.
