LETTER: A nightmare that could really happen
To the Editor:
Last night, I dreamed about a jihadist terrorist attack on the nearby Fort Bragg, N.C. Army installation. There was a tremendous explosion; the ground shook, and the ensuing fire made the night look like day. The enemy had bombed the ammunition depot and weaponry stockpile. They were shooting and killing our soldiers. The call went out to the surrounding area to hunters, retired and former military people — "Come and help us!"
Our reply? How can we help? Shall we come with pitchforks and garden rakes? You see, our federal government had just passed a law where we had to give up our guns and bullets under strict penalty. The Second Amendment no longer applied in America.
I woke up from this nightmare and thought that this could really happen.
