LETTER: Forced pooling legal under fracking policy

SANFORD —
To the Editor:
Fracking Bill SB820 allows for the "forced pooling" of property owners who choose not to lease their land. This means that a road, a pipeline, a 10-acre drill pad, the harvesting of any trees on your property can be done without your approval.
Would you allow a lumber company to come onto your property without permission? Would you allow a hazardous waste trucking company to come on your farm to store wastes without your permission?
Do you want stadium-style lighting on 24/7 while they drill a well without your permission?
This is all legal under bill SB 820.
Come to the McSwain Ag Center on Friday at 9 a.m. to learn more about the property rights you have lost.
