LETTER: Vote down bonds now,or don’t complain later
To the Editor:
You have done a good job of presenting the vague projects that the Sanford City Council wants to spend $14.5 million on in the next 7-10 years. However, no one has bothered putting them into perspective with the other upcoming tax burdens.
Sanford and Lee County are going to continue to grow in population because of location, location and location. SanLee in the next 20 years will become a bedroom community for Cary/points north and Fayetteville/points south. This, as has happened in 100 other highly accessible communities around the country, results in the need for new schools, fire services, water, sewers, streets and a myriad of other necessities. The necessities in the proposed bond issue should cost about $200,000. The remainder is a very unnecessary coat of paint.
If you don’t get out and vote no in September and to replace the perpetrators of this nonsense in November, you can’t complain in the future. I live here because the everyday, hard-working people make it a fantastic place to live. Keep it that way with your vote!
