LETTER: Thanks to American Legion for help with fundraiser dance
To the Editor:
American Legion No. 382 in Sanford was very generous in helping with the fundraiser dance for John Wicker. John had passed away on March 5.
Commander Don Schreiner and Club Manager Don Causey allowed us to use the hall on March 30 for the dance. Gene Dickens, a friend of John’s, volunteered his time as the disc jockey. The planning committee was Charlene Cummings, Ruth Lerche, Catherine Simpson, Nellie Gillis, Maxine Lacy and Ron Klepper. Bobbie Goins and Vice Commander Jack Zellner were a great help during the evening and in the cleaning up.
The committee is grateful to the American Legion for their part in making the evening a success. The American Legion, located on Legion Drive, is active in serving our veterans. They meet for dinners and meetings on the first and third Mondays.
All veterans and families are welcome.
