LETTER: Post's run is ironic
To the Editor:
There is a great deal of irony in trial lawyer Chas Post's run for a seat on the Sanford City Council.
For example, Mr. Post claims that he wants to help save HAVEN in Lee County, yet his law firm is well known for representing the kind of criminals from whom HAVEN's women and children clients are most often trying to escape. In fact, the law firm's website [states that it represents] those who have been charged with murder, serious assault, rape, statutory rape and kidnapping.
The website also makes it clear that Mr. Post specializes in the defense of those driving while impaired due to alcohol or drugs. The website proclaims that the firm helps many clients charged with DWI avoid the serious consequences from a conviction. ...
After announcing that he was running for a seat on the city council last summer, The Sanford Herald quoted Mr. Post as saying, "It's no secret that crime is an issue."
I agree that crime is an issue in Sanford, but Sanford residents — especially women — should be very concerned about electing a trial lawyer who spends his time defending criminal behavior.
