EDITORIAL: Small Business Expo should be worth the wait
After talk of cancellation and being pushed back several months, one of the year’s most anticipated events is happening from noon to 4 p.m. at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center.
It’s the 25th annual Central Carolina Small Business Expo, a time when area residents can get an up-close look at many of the area’s businesses and organizations.
Best of all is the reasonable price of admission — just $2 or two cans of food. That’s a real bargain, especially because the expo also features giveaways, prizes and demos.
Throughout the expo’s history, a dedicated group of individuals has worked hard to ensure the success of this yearly event. It also boasts tremendous sponsorship, including this year’s supporters in Lee-Moore Capital Company, as well as WWGP and WFJA radio stations.
Originally scheduled for May, the expo was postponed indefinitely earlier this year due to a number of factors, Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce officials have said — including a difficult economy and a glut of competing events in the spring.
Even with the date change, the area business community has stepped forward to take advantage of this outstanding marketing opportunity, whuch gives Central Carolinians the opportunity to visit with these merchants who have served our area so well for years and others more recently introduced into our community.
“Everything from car dealers to banks, health care, yogurt, dentists, lots of financial, some restaurants — it really just covers everything,” Jennifer St. Clair, marketing director for the Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce, told The Herald in a recent interview. “We’ve got a few a nonprofits as well. And everything’s local.”
And many thousands of area residents and others have recognized the expo’s value — taking the chance to meet with these exhibitors to learn about the many services available in our region.
To all of those who have worked toward the success of this year’s expo, thank you for your efforts.
To all of the many exhibitors, thank you for stepping forward to show Central Carolinians what you offer. Here’s hoping that you are rewarded with much business in the future.
To all of the individuals who plan to attend this event, your patronage is appreciated — and please make sure to show your gratitude to these exhibitors who so value your support.
