LETTER: Pray for America

Jan. 30, 2013 @ 05:01 AM

To the Editor:

I urge all who love God and country to pray as never before for this nation. Pray that we would repent of our wickedness and callousness toward God and his word.

In one week, we inaugurated a president with an invocation that purposefully left out the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance; we passed the 40-year mark of the most heinous decision in U.S. history, which has killed 55 million innocent children, and then, if that wasn't enough, we saw the secretary of defense open up the door for women in combat — front lines infantry positions. God made them "male and female," but the military thinks there is no difference between the two; God created life, beginning from conception, but the abortion industry kills a million a year without penalty.

God is sovereign over the nations, yet at the inauguration of the president of the United States there is an opening prayer that refuses to mention his name. Pray for a great awakening in this land. It is our only hope.
