An open letter to Rep. Mike Stone
To the Editor:
Mr. [Mike] Stone:
I would like to remind you that you have a responsibility to your constituents not only to protect us and our way of life, but to make things easier, smoother and happier for us all. It’s your responsibility to bring us together through the common good. This is done through honest and open communication and the backing of bills that are wholesome for our community.
It saddens me that you seem to have lost your way. From forcing partisanship upon our local elections to trying to oust the board of education from Central Carolina Community College’s board of trustees (not to mention threatening our community college’s freedom of speech), you have displayed a political aggression that I have never seen at this level. I am not alone in my disappointment.
I fear your next election will be a tighter contest. Based on the current trend, I can say that I have spoken to those who have lost faith and will not be voting to reelect you. I will face a tough decision myself. It’s your duty to represent us, and I feel that you are grossly failing.
This is my town. This is my county. I fell that you are endangering both. I will implore people to closely watch your office and openly discuss your actions until the next election.
Let’s hope some good is on the way. We would all like that.
Michael Chad Parrish
