LETTER: Appalled by treatment of Greenwood student
To the Editor:
I cannot begin to say how angry and sickened I am about your article concerning the Greenwood child who had no lunch money. How dare the “adults,” who are there to protect, teach and care for the children, heap the pure and total embarrassment and emotional agony on this innocent child who was hungry. Don't you even dare tell me you gave that child a peanut butter sandwich and the problem was solved. Such cruelty over 80 cents!
Call the mom. Ask for change. Share your own lunch. Give him credit. Send a note home. A little Christian love and charity wouldn't be out of order here. I know about Scrooge at Christmas, but I never knew he lived at Greenwood School during Easter Lent. Lord, protect the children from well-meaning accountants!
