Boys basketball
Northwood 68, Cedar Ridge 65
Northwood held on to a 44-35 lead entering the fourth quarter and got its second Big Eight win of the season in Pittsboro Tuesday night.
Darius Cole paced the Chargers with 14 points. Kadarus Rone, Elijah Washington and Jared Worley scored 11 points each.
Peyton Pappas led Cedar Ridge (5-11, 2-7) with 27 points.
The Chargers (7-13, 2-8) will play at Orange at 7 p.m. Friday.

Carrboro 52, Jordan-Matthews 48
Carrboro (12-7, 4-3) rallied from a 34-24 deficit late in the third quarter to beat the Jets (8-11, 2-4) in a Mid-State Conference game in Siler City Tuesday night. The Jaguars take a regular-season sweep of the Jets.
Bryson Bittle led the Jets with 11 points and Raheem Mateen added eight points.
Jordan-Matthews will visit Bartlett Yancey Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tip.

Smithfield-Selma 47, Western Harnett 43
The Spartans (5-13, 2-3) pulled out a regular-season split in a Two Rivers game at Western Harnett (2-16, 2-3) Tuesday night.
Sophomore Raequan Smith led Smithfield-Selma with 17 points.
Western Harnett played Cleveland in a rescheduled game last night. The Eagles will host South Johnston at 8 p.m. Friday.

Triton 78, Cleveland 54
The Hawks (12-5, 4-1) avenged an earlier loss to Cleveland (9-9, 3-2) and took over sole possession of first place in the Two Rivers Conference with an easy win Tuesday night in Erwin.
Cleveland topped Triton 65-56 on Jan. 10. In the second contest, Triton led 41-24 at halftime and kept building the lead. Nick Parker led the Hawks with 22 points. Chris Eason had 13 points and Trent Fennell added nine points. D'Angelo Harris had six points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.
Triton played at Corinth Holders last night and will play at Smithfield-Selma at 8 p.m. Friday.

Garner 68, Harnett Central 44
Garner (13-7, 9-2) jumped out to a 23-8 lead through a quarter and made it 43-20 by halftime in a Greater Neuse River game at Harnett Central (5-13, 1-8) Tuesday.
Dashaun Arnold and Don Singletary scored 13 points each for Harnett Central.
Harnett Central has a rescheduled game at Southeast Raleigh at 8 p.m. tonight followed by a home date versus Rolesville Friday night.

Seventy-First 84, Overhills 73
Seventy-First (18-2, 8-0) remained perfect in Mid-South Athletic play at Spring Lake Tuesday night.
Chris Thomas led the Falcons with 23 points. Dexter McCrae, with 12 points and Brian Staton, with 11 points, led Overhills.
The Jaguars (8-9, 2-6) will play at Pine Forest at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Fayetteville Academy 48, O'Neal 16
Fayetteville Academy rolled to a Cape Fear Independent Conference win at O'Neal Tuesday night.
O'Neal hosted Fayetteville Christian last night and will play at Fayetteville Christian at 7 p.m. this evening, both being make-up games.

North Stanly 68, North Moore 48
Conference rookie North Stanly (16-3, 9-1) handed the visiting Mustangs (11-7, 8-1) their first Yadkin Valley Conference loss Tuesday in New London. The Mustangs played South Davidson last night and will host Queens Grant at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Scotland 53, Pinecrest 36
The Fighting Scots (4-10, 3-2) held the Patriots (5-12, 2-4) to four points in the second quarter and two points in the third quarter to take a 35-16 lead through three periods in a Southeastern Conference game Tuesday in Southern Pines. Jordan Ratliffe led Scotland with 14 points.
Pinecrest will play at Purnell Swett at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Girls basketball
Carrboro 69, Jordan-Matthews 64
The Lady Jets fought back most of the way from a 44-24 halftime deficit but it wasn't enough in a Mid-State game in Siler City Tuesday night.
Odyssey Dunn led the Lady Jets with 14 points and Madison Poe scored 13 points.
Jordan-Matthews (5-14, 2-4) will play at Bartlett Yancey at 6 p.m. Friday.

Seventy-First 71, Overhills 24
Seventy-First (17-3, 6-2) routed the Lady Jaguars in a Mid-South Athletic game Tuesday night.
Jaylen Smalls led the Lady Jags with eight points. Overhills (7-7, 1-7) will play at Pine Forest at 6 p.m. Friday.

Harnett Central 42, Garner 41
A game after falling 63-35 at Garner, Harnett Central (8-10, 3-6) edged Garner (5-10, 3-7) for a GNRC victory Tuesday night.
Madison Turlington and Denise McNeill scored 10 points each for Harnett Central. Taylor Snow added five points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Trojans play at Southeast Raleigh at 6 p.m. this evening.

Smithfield-Selma 45, Western Harnett 33
Smithfield-Selma (3-15, 2-3) earned a regular-season split with the Lady Eagles (2-13, 2-2) in a Two Rivers game Tuesday night.
Smithfield-Selma led 12-8 at halftime and pulled away to a 33-25 score after three quarters.
Western Harnett played Cleveland last night and will host South Johnston for a conference game at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Cleveland 37, Triton 35
Cleveland (7-11, 4-1) outscored the Lady Hawks (5-12, 1-3) 12-4 in the fourth quarter to get a Two Rivers win Tuesday night in Erwin.
Triton played at Corinth Holders last night and will go to Smithfield-Selma Friday for a 6:30 p.m. tip.

Scotland 51, Pinecrest 22
Scotland (7-7, 5-0) stayed atop the Southeastern Conference with a win at Pinecrest (5-11, 2-4) Tuesday evening. The Scots led 28-12 at halftime.
The Lady Patriots will continue SEC play at Purnell Swett at 6 p.m. Friday.
