Bears rally in seventh to win, 6-5

After going scoreless for five straight frames, Chatham Central scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past Albemarle for a 6-5 victory in a Yadkin Valley Conference game Friday night.

Albemarle (3-8, 3-4) jumped out to a 4-1 lead through one inning, then held the Bears quiet until the big comeback.

Zack Burke, Chris Murchison, Cade McIntyre, Seth Elkins and Chase Fuquay drove in one RBI each for the Bears. Murchison went 2-for-3 with a run and Burke went 2-for-4 with a run.

Burke pitched the first six innings. Matt Brooks gave up an unearned run in the Albemarle seventh, making it 5-1, but got the win.

The Bears (5-3, 5-1) went 3-0, all in YVC contests, this week and will host North Moore in a YVC game Tuesday at 7 p.m.
