Jordan-Matthews 72, Southwestern Randolph 60

The Lady Jets made it back-to-back Courier-Tribune Christmas Tournament titles and 44 consecutive victories overall in Asheboro Saturday night.

Jordan-Matthews (13-0, 2-0) got out to a 23-9 lead through a quarter over Southwestern Randolph (10-1). Southwestern Randolph chipped the Jet lead down to 50-43 going to the fourth but the Lady Jets hung on from there. It was the highest offensive total of the season for the Lady Jets.

Senior Mylia Garner, who's committed to play next year at Charlotte, scored 32 points leading the Lady Jets. Erin Bristow scored 19 points and Taylor Paige added nine points.

Jordan-Matthews will travel for a Mid-State game at Cummings on Jan. 3.

Pinecrest 47, Richmond County 35

The Lady Patriots got a pair of double-doubles to win the third-place game of their Holiday in the Pines Tournament Saturday.

Felicia Painter had 20 points and 20 rebounds while Janea Williams had 11 points and 14 boards.

Pinecrest (6-5) is off until playing its first Southeastern Conference game of the season against Lumberton on Jan. 11 in Southern Pines.
