Patriots win at Hoke, get to 10-1 mark

Pinecrest 49, Hoke County 28
Patriot quarterback Christian Ledbetter threw for 218 yards, no interceptions and three touchdowns as the Patriots (10-1, 4-1) clinched second place in the Southeastern Conference and a 10-win season at Hoke County (2-9, 1-4) Friday night.
Bradley Black passed to Cameron Brown for a 63-yard touchdown, followed later in the game by Ledbetter passing to Black for a 12-yard touchdown.
Josh McCoy carried for a 60-yard touchdown, taking the Patriot lead to 42-28, and Carson Maples added a touchdown with a 35-yard interception return.
No. 4 (4AA East) Pinecrest will host a first-round state playoff game against No. 13 Laney (6-4) on Friday.

Jordan-Matthews 36, Cummings 7
The Jets (5-6, 3-2) clinched a state playoff spot, by finishing third in the Mid-State Conference, with a victory at home in Siler City Friday night.
The visiting Cavaliers got out to a 7-0 lead. Hunter Causey carried for the first two Jet touchdowns and the Jets kept rolling to a 29-7 halftime lead. Tre Jones and Trajan Glover added a touchdown each.
After going through a six-game losing streak, the Jets have a three-game winning streak going into the postseason.
The Jets, seeded No. 11 in the 2A East bracket, will travel to face No. 6 Southwest Onslow (8-3) in the first round Friday.

Chatham Central 50, South Davidson 20
The Bears (2-9, 1-7) snapped a seven-game losing streak Friday night at South Davidson (0-11, 0-8) and their first Yadkin Valley win was enough to put them in the state playoffs.
Chatham Central jumped out to a 14-0 lead and kept the rout going to a 43-6 halftime lead. The Bears have scored 108 points in their last four games.
No. 8 (1A Midwest) Chatham Central will play at No. 1 Albemarle (8-3) on Friday in the first round.

Triton 41, Corinth Holders 14
Triton (9-2, 4-1) got its second win of the week, winning at Corinth Holders (7-4, 2-3) on three days' rest after topping Western Harnett on Monday night.
Quarterback Jeremy Leggett scored on an 11-yard touchdown run to make it a 7-7 game, then rushed in on a 1-yard run to give the Hawks the lead for good.
Zach Wade led the Hawk rushing with 11 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. Leggett was 9-for-14 passing for 108 yards with touchdown passes to Todd Penny and D'Angelo Harris.
The Hawks, No. 7 in the 3AA East region, will host No. 10 Cardinal Gibbons (8-3) in the first round Friday.

Cleveland 35, Western Harnett 16
Cleveland (8-3, 5-0) completed an undefeated title in the Two Rivers Conference winning at Western Harnett (4-7, 2-3) Friday night. Senior running back powered the Rams with 229 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Darius Alston led the Eagles with 14 carries for 104 yards. Austin Speck and Gartrel Barnes scored rushing touchdowns for the Eagles.
Western Harnett earned a spot in the 3AA State Playoffs and will play at No. 1 Douglas Byrd (9-2) on Friday.

Jack Britt 62, Overhills 8
Jack Britt (8-3, 6-0) scored the first 56 points of the night to cruise to a perfect Mid-South Athletic Conference campaign versus the visiting Jaguars (2-9, 0-6) Friday night.
Quincy Ridley scored the Jaguar touchdown on a 2-yard run. Jaguar quarterback Deshaun Phillips was 15-for-26 passing for 142 yards but Jack Britt made four interceptions.

West Johnston 41, Harnett Central 20
West Johnston (4-7, 2-4) led 34-0 at halftime and 41-0 through three quarters to get a Greater Neuse River win at Harnett Central (1-9, 0-6) Friday night.
