Lee County 9, Douglas Byrd 0

The Lady Yellow Jackets (3-5, 3-5) swarmed to an 8-0 lead in the first half and wound up winning via mercy rule in a Cape Fear Valley match at home Wednesday night.

Tara Speelman led the Jacket scoring with two goals. Bianey Castillo, Madison Hunter, Andriyeli Jiminez, Maritza Santos and Micaela Schlott scored a goal each. Daniela Avila, Mckenna Claffey and Hunter had an assist each.

Lee County sweeps Douglas Byrd for the regular season. The Lady Jackets will play at conference-leading Union Pines at 7 p.m. Monday.


Terry Sanford 3, Union Pines 0

CFVC rookie Terry Sanford (6-2, 5-1) broke Union Pines' 49-match conference unbeaten streak Wednesday night in Fayetteville. The Lady Bulldogs got goals from Charlotte Hasty, Kirstie King and Gracey Lewis.

The Lady Vikings (8-2-1, 6-1-0), who split with Terry Sanford for the regular season, lead Terry Sanford by a half-game in the league standings. Union Pines will play Rocky Mount in The Brittany event in Wilson at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.


Triton 4, Midway 0

Triton (7-4-1, 2-2-0 Two Rivers) built a 3-0 lead in the first half and went on to a victory at Midway (6-3) Wednesday.

Emily Neville scored two Lady Hawk goals. Demarshay Devane and Jessica Portillo scored a goal apiece. Carolina Rosado had two assists. Keeper Kala West made six saves.

Triton will play at Corinth Holders in a league match on Tuesday.


Reidsville 4, Jordan-Matthews 0

The Lady Rams handed Jordan-Matthews its first Mid-State loss Wednesday evening in Reidsville. The Lady Jets (5-5-1, 3-1-0) will host Graham in a league match at 6 p.m. Monday.


South Davidson 1, Chatham Central 0

South Davidson (3-4, 2-3) edged the Lady Bears (2-7, 2-3) in a Yadkin Valley match in Bear Creek Wednesday. The Lady Bears will host North Stanly at 6 p.m. Tuesday.



Jordan-Matthews 14, Northwood 9

Jordan-Matthews completed a season sweep in the county rivalry Wednesday night in Siler City. The Chargers (4-7, 2-3 Big Eight) took a 9-8 lead with four runs in the top of the sixth. The Jets (9-2, 3-0 Mid-State) rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead.

The Jets play at Graham in a Mid-State game at 7 p.m. tonight. The Chargers host Cardinal Gibbons in league play at 6 p.m. this evening.


South Stanly 3, Chatham Central 1

The Rowdy Rebel Bulls (4-8, 4-4) scored three runs in the first inning and Dylan Starnes pitched a complete-game victory versus the visiting Bears in a Yadkin Valley game Wednesday night.

Zack Burke pitched a complete game for the Bears, allowing three hits and three earned runs and striking out eight.

Jeremy Kerr went 2 for 3 at the plate and had an RBI in the Bear fourth.

Chatham Central (3-6, 3-4) plays a conference game at Queen's Grant at 6:30 p.m. this evening.


Pine Forest 15, Overhills 4

The Trojans (8-4, 5-1) led 14-0 after an inning and a half and went on to a Mid-South Athletic win at Overhills Wednesday night. The Jaguars (1-9, 1-6) play another MSAC game at South View at 7 p.m. tonight.


Midway 13, Triton 8

Midway (8-1, 5-0 Four County) picked up a season split with the visiting Hawks (7-2, 3-0 Two Rivers) Wednesday night. Triton hosts Western Harnett for a Two Rivers game at 7 p.m. tonight.



Overhills 8, Pine Forest 7

The Lady Jaguars rallied from a 7-3 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the fifth and the go-ahead run in the sixth for a Mid-South Athletic win in Spring Lake Wednesday.

Jordan Adcox went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and four RBI for the Lady Jags as Megan Buse went 3 for 4 with three doubles and two RBI and Tori Pritchett also went 3 for 4 and scored two runs. Overhills (4-6, 3-4) outhit Pine Forest (5-5, 3-3) 15-13.

Overhills plays a conference contest at South View at 7 p.m. tonight.


Triton 9, Midway 1

The Lady Hawks (7-4, 2-1 Two Rivers) rolled to a non-conference win at Midway Wednesday night.

Emma Thomas hit a home run while going 3 for 4 with two runs and four RBI. Kayla Riewestahl and Lindsey Champion each added three hits and two RBI.

Triton hosts Western Harnett for a Two Rivers game at 7 p.m. tonight.


Chatham Central 8, South Davidson 4

The Lady Bears (3-5, 3-4) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first three innings, then tacked on three more for a 8-2 lead in the sixth for a YVC win at South Davidson (5-5, 3-5) Wednesday afternoon.

Chatham Central hosts Queen's Grant at 6 p.m. this evening for a YVC game.


North Stanly 4, North Moore 0

North Stanly (6-2, 5-2) won its sixth straight game and gave the Lady Mustangs their first loss, winning a Yadkin Valley game at North Moore (7-1, 5-1) Wednesday. Freshman pitcher Samantha Hogan pitched a three-hitter for the victors.

The Lady Mustangs host Gray Stone Day at 6 p.m. this evening for a YVC game.
