Jackets beat Bengals for first Tri-9 win
Lee County 67, Fuquay-Varina 54
Junior guard Hunter Jackson led the Yellow Jackets (2-2, 1-1) with 22 points as they beat visiting Fuquay-Varina (0-5, 0-2) for a Tri-Nine Conference win Friday night.
Lee County got out to a 35-18 lead by halftime. Dewaun McEachin scored 15 points for the Jackets. John Payne scored 10 points and Dante Graham added eight.
The Yellow Jackets have another Tri-Nine contest Tuesday, traveling to Middle Creek for a 7 p.m. tip.
Jordan-Matthews 66, Union Pines 51
Wing player Llamar Snipes poured in 29 points and center Derek Hamilton scored 22 points as the Jets beat visiting Union Pines Friday night going to a 7-0 record.
Matthew Maness led the Vikings with 13 points and Malik Crawford scored 12 points.
Union Pines (3-3) opens Cape Fear Valley Conference play at Douglas Byrd Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Jordan-Matthews hosts Lee Christian Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Triton 63, Harnett Central 55
The Hawks (6-1) completed a season sweep over Harnett Central in Erwin Friday night.
Senior guard Maurice McBryde led Triton with 18 points and four steals; he made 10-of-13 free throws. Dedrick Stacker added 13 points.
Hunter Baker had 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (3-4) and Don Singletary scored 16 points.
Triton has its Eastern Carolina Conference opener at Southern Wayne Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
Harnett Central plays at Western Harnett Monday at 8 p.m.
East Chapel Hill 69, Northwood 61
After a 25-9 Charger third period put Northwood up 45-41, East Chapel Hill took the fourth quarter 28-16 to beat the visiting Chargers Friday night.
Tykeem Woodard led East Chapel Hill (5-1) with 19 points and six assists.
Ti Pinnix scored 18 points and Charles Hope had 12 points for Northwood.
The Chargers (2-3, 1-0) host Voyager for a Carolina 12 game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
East Montgomery 71, Chatham Central 66 - OT
East Montgomery (2-4, 1-0) made a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime, then beat the Bears (0-4, 0-1) in the Yadkin Valley Conference opener for both squads Friday in Bear Creek.
Chatham Central plays at Gray Stone Day Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Pinecrest 51, Wyoming Seminary Prep (Pa.) 47 - OT
The Patriots (5-1) won in the first round of the Berwick Area High School Tournament in Pennsylvania Friday night.
Regulation ended 44-44. The Patriots scored the first six points in overtime. Adam Cummings led Pinecrest with 16 points and seven rebounds. Justin Ray and Brendan Ortiz scored nine points each.
North Rowan 69, North Moore 26
The host Cavaliers (3-2, 2-0) routed the Mustangs (2-4, 1-1) in a Yadkin Valley Conference game Friday.
Shariff Walker led North Rowan with 13 points. North Rowan led 50-8 at halftime.
Matthew Spivey led North Moore with six points.
North Moore plays another YVC game at South Davidson Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Fuquay-Varina 58, Lee County 20
Camille Baker and Tiana Hunter scored 18 points apiece as the Lady Bengals (1-4, 1-1) topped visiting Lee County (2-2, 0-2) in a Tri-Nine game Friday night. Fuquay-Varina led 33-15 at halftime.
Olivia Sturdivant, Nikki Hoover and De’ja Bland scored four points each for the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Lee County hosts Middle Creek in a conference game Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Jordan-Matthews 50, Union Pines 35
The Lady Jets moved to 7-0 on the season beating Union Pines (2-4) in Siler City Friday.
Mylia Garner led Jordan-Matthews with 14 points. Taylor Paige scored 13 points and Erin Bristow had 12.
Maria Smith had seven points and Dasia McCrimmon had six for the Lady Vikings.

Northwood 56, East Chapel Hill 40
The Lady Chargers got out to a 28-12 lead by halftime and won at East Chapel Hill Friday night.
Gabby Mehringer scored 14 points and Shontai Totten added 10 points for Northwood (3-2, 1-0).
Northwood hosts Voyager Academy for a Carolina 12 game Tuesday at 6 p.m.

North Moore’s Jalisa Davis poured in 33 points, including a tying three-pointer with eight seconds left in the Yadkin Valley Conference game at North Rowan Friday.
North Rowan’s Aliyah Farmer made the winning basket with 0:02 left. Special Washington led the Lady Cavaliers (2-1, 2-0) with 18 points.
North Moore held a 47-45 lead going to the final period.
The Lady Mustangs (4-2, 1-1) play another YVC game at South Davidson Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Coastal Christian (6-2) led the Lady Falcons 19-6 at halftime and went on to a win in Southern Pines Friday.
