Hillside 52, Southern Lee 39

The host Hornets (3-1) won their third straight game topping the Cavaliers (0-4) Monday night. Southern Lee plays this evening at Scotland County at 7:30 p.m.

Harnett Central 57, Western Harnett 38

The host Trojans jumped out to a 15-5 lead through one quarter and went on to their second win this season over Western Harnett.

Don Singletary led Harnett Central with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Tre Rogers scored 12 points and Jay McNeill and Hunter Baker had 11 points each.

Jonathan Buie led the Eagles with 10 points.

Harnett Central (3-2) hosts Overhills tonight at 8 p.m. The Trojans beat Overhills 72-69 on Nov. 21, then fell 86-47 to the Jaguars on Nov. 27.

Western Harnett (0-6) play at Triton tonight at 8 p.m.

Pine Forest 70, Overhills 63

Jaguar junior guard Jared Foster drained 30 points but visiting Pine Forest (4-1) topped Overhills (2-3) in Spring Lake Monday night.

Senior center Jake Jensen had 20 points and 10 boards for the Trojans while senior point guard Travis McEachern had nine points and 10 assists.

Dexter McCrae added nine points for the Jaguars.

Overhills plays at Harnett Central tonight at 8 p.m.

North Stanly 51, North Moore 48

North Stanly rallied in the second half after the visiting Mustangs (1-3) led 24-17 at halftime. The Comets and Mustangs split for the season.

North Moore started conference play last night versus South Stanly. The Mustangs will visit North Rowan for another YVC game Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Northwood 80, Roxboro Community 52

The Chargers (2-1, 1-0) opened their Carolina 12 schedule with an easy win over visiting Roxboro Community (1-3, 1-1) Monday night.

Northwood hosts Northern Durham in a non-league game tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Girls basketball

Hillside 68, Southern Lee 19

Hillside (3-1) rolled to a 41-7 lead by halftime over the visiting Lady Cavaliers Monday night. Deshele Sumpter led the Lady Cavs with five points.

Southern Lee (0-4) travels to face Scotland County this evening at 6 p.m.

Pine Forest 68, Overhills 48

Overhills led 26-21 at halftime before visiting Pine Forest (5-0) won the third period 33-11 and went on to win at Spring Lake monday evening.

The Lady Jaguars (2-3) play at Harnett Central tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Harnett Central 67, Western Harnett 7

Senior forward DeAnneisha Jackson led Harnett Central with 18 points as the Lady Trojans rolled by county rival Western Harnett Monday evening. Jalisia Campbell and Maya Banks had 10 points each while Erica Holmes had seven assists. Harnett Central led 34-5 at halftime.

Harnett Central (5-0) hosts Overhills tonight at 6 p.m. looking for a third win in three tries over the Jags this season. The Lady Eagles (0-6) play at Triton tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Northwood 74, Roxboro Community 15

The Lady Chargers (1-2, 1-0) got out to a 24-5 lead by the end of the first quarter and kept the rout going in a Carolina 12 game Pittsboro Monday night.

Shontai Totten led Northwood with 19 points. Alexis Brower scored 12 points with Gabby Mehringer getting 11 and Eboni Watson getting 10.

Northwood hosts Northern Durham in a non-league game tonight at 6 p.m.

North Stanly 56, North Moore 51

North Moore jumped out to a 17-6 lead through one quarter but couldn't keep the lead against visiting North Stanly Monday night. North Moore (3-1) and North Stanly (3-1) split for the season.

Junior Gentry Grubb hit seven three-pointers and scored 25 points for North Stanly.

The Lady Mustangs played South Stanly, opening up Yadkin Valley Conference play, last night. North Moore will play at North Rowan Friday at 6 p.m.
