Lee County 54, Fuquay-Varina 49

Senior point guard Dante Graham poured in 24 points as Lee County (10-8, 7-3) got past a slow start on the road and got a Tri-Nine victory at Fuquay-Varina Wednesday night.

The Bengals (1-15, 1-9) led 6-3 after one quarter. Lee County moved in front for a 28-20 lead through three quarters. The Jackets sweep the Bengals for the season.

Dewaun McEachin scored 11 points for the Jackets and Jason Payne added seven points.

Lee County stands in fourth place in the conference. The Jackets host Middle Creek tonight at 7 Lee County won 55-52 in overtime at Middle Creek in December.


Harnett Central 62, South Johnston 44

Freshman wing Anthony Staton scored 23 points leading the Trojans (6-8, 2-4) in a conference win at South Johnston Wednesday night.

Jay McNeill had seven points and four assists for Harnett Central. Maurice Jones had eight points and Jalen Owens had seven points. Harnett Central took a 27-16 halftime lead after being tied, 10-10, after a quarter.

The Trojans played at Smithfield-Selma last night and will play at Southeast Raleigh tonight at 8.


Girls basketballFuquay-Varina 66, Lee County 55

The Lady Jackets had their best offensive total of their conference season but fell to visiting Fuquay-Varina Wednesday night.

De’Ja Bland led the Lady Jackets with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Quitta Wilson and Nikki Hoover scored eight points each. Noelle Beattie led Lee County on the boards with 14.

Lee County (5-13, 0-10) travel to play Middle Creek tonight at 7 p.m.


Harnett Central 49, South Johnston 27

Harnett Central took a 23-5 lead by halftime and rolled to a Greater Neuse River win at South Johnston Wednesday night.

Senior Maya Banks scored 18 points for the Lady Trojans (12-2, 4-2) and DeAnneisha Jackson added 12 points.

Harnett Central played at Smithfield-Selma last night and go to Southeast Raleigh tonight for a 6 p.m. start.
