Grace Christian's boys basketball team romped to a Carolina Christian Conference win over Wayne Christian Friday night, while the Lady Crusaders, in a non-conference contest, rolled to a 9-1 record with a blowout win.

A night after losing Greenfield, the No. 1-ranked team in NCISAA 1A, the Crusaders hammered visiting Wayne Christian 82-21.

Grace's Zach Boggs led all scorers with 22 points and Braxton Diekhopf scored 14 points.

"We always play a tough schedule. We win and some and we lose some, but we feel like when it comes down to tournament time our schedule helps us to be prepared for anything," said Grace Christian head coach Joel Murr.

Austin Howell and Kanin Preskit had eight points each for Wayne Christian.

The Crusaders (4-5, 2-1) will play at O'Neal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lady Crusaders (9-1, 1-1) beat Burlington Day 60-23. Senior guard Anna Murr paced Grace Christian with 20 points and four steals.

Karinda Farrant, already with two double-doubles in the last two games, had 11 points and nine assists. Abby Strickland and Torie Boyte scored 10 points each.

Sarah McQueen led Burlington Day with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Coach Murr is happy with how his team is playing through the first part of the season.

"The girls work extremely hard in practice and are learning to play together," he said.

"We have had some easy wins and we have had some close ones. It's a long season and we are just trying to get better one day at a time. I'm happy for this group of girls. They have earned every win they have gotten."

The Lady Crusaders will play at Friendship Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday.
