Host school tops Crusader teams in tournament finals

Boys basketball
Carolina Christian 70, Grace Christian 63
Carolina Christian overcame a huge game by Grace Christian's Zach Boggs, who poured in 36 points, to win the championship of the Carolina Christian Holiday Tournament in Locust on Tuesday.
Carolina Christian's Luke Moore scored 20 points in the final and was the tournament MVP. Boggs made the all-tournament team.
The Crusaders (6-7, 2-1) defeated First Assembly of Monroe 82-45 in the first round on Monday.
Boggs scored 34 points and Robert Fulton scored 20 points for the Crusaders.
Grace Christian gets back into Carolina Christian Conference play with a trip to Durham to meet Cresset Christian at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Girls basketball
Carolina Christian 49, Grace Christian 32
In the girls' final Tuesday, Carolina Christian (13-1) handed the Lady Crusaders their second loss of the season.
Lady Crusaders senior Anna Murr scored 18 points. Ashton Franklin led Carolina Christian, and was the tourney MVP, with 20 points. Murr made the all-tournament team.
Grace Christian (11-2, 1-1) defeated Community Christian of Davidson 55-45 on Monday. Murr scored a season-high 28 points and had 11 rebounds. Alexis Ross had 19 points and six assists.
Grace Christian was without starting point guard Karinda Farrant and key reserve Lexi Carver for the tournament.
The Lady Crusaders will play a CCC game at Cresset Christian at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
