Lady Crusaders roll to 3-0 start

A hot first quarter and Karinda Farrant's triple-double led Grace Christian (3-0) to a 76-59 victory over visiting New Life Tuesday night.

The Lady Crusaders jumped out to a 27-13 lead through one quarter and didn't look back. New Life made a run in the third quarter, cutting Grace Christian's lead down to seven. Back-to-back three-pointers by Anna Murr and Alexis Ross sparked the Lady Crusaders and Grace Christian led 60-47 going to the fourth quarter.

Farrant, a senior, but a newcomer to the Lady Crusaders, had her first triple-double as a Lady Crusader with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and eight steals.

"Karinda was awesome tonight," said head coach Joel Murr. "She was definitely our quarterback. She is starting to pick up our philosophy and plays and is going to be really good for us."

Anna Murr scored 20 points and got eight rebounds. Ross added 17 points and six steals.

The New Life Storm was led by Katie Patrick with 20 points and Sarah Suffidge with 13 points.

"I am proud of the start that we have had this year. These girls are working hard and I am looking forward to seeing what this team can accomplish," said coach Murr.

Grace Christian will play at Southern Lee (1-0) at 6 p.m. this evening. Grace Christian won last year's meeting with the Lady Cavaliers 59-36.

Grace Christian's JV girls team defeated O'Neal 24-21 Tuesday evening. Gabby Womble led the Lady Crusaders (1-0) with 11 points.
