Grace Christian 2, Charlotte Latin 0

Grace Christian (3-1-1) blanked Charlotte Latin in the first round of the Ravenscroft Invitational Tournament in Raleigh Thursday afternoon.

The Crusaders have three shutouts in their five matches on the season. They advanced to play North Raleigh Christian in the semifinals on Friday. The tournament at Ravenscroft ends Saturday.

Jordan-Matthews 7, Williams 1

After an opening 4-2 loss to Chapel Hill, the Jets (1-1) hammered Williams (0-2) on the second night of the Orange County Challenge at Chapel Hill High Thursday night.

Kevin Rodriguez scored a first-half hat trick and the Jets led 4-1 at the half. Cirilo Rangel scored two goals and Darwin Ramirez and Diego Santiesteban had a goal each. The tournament concluded last night. The Jets will play at Eastern Randolph at 6 p.m. Monday.

Hoke County 3, Lee County 0

The host Bucks (1-1) topped Lee County (0-1) Thursday night. Yellow Jacket keeper Martin Gomez made 12 saves. Lee County will play its home opener versus Northwood at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Union Pines 2, Scotland 0

The Vikings (2-0) made it two wins in two nights to start the season at Scotland Thursday night. Rafael Pastrana and Riley O'Neal scored a goal apiece. The Vikings will play at Village Christian at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Harnett Central 2, Triton 0

The Trojans (1-0) started their season with a win at county-rival Triton (1-1). The Trojans will host Pinecrest at 7 p.m. Monday. The Hawks will visit Southern Lee Monday for a 7 p.m. start.

Pine Forest 7, Western Harnett 0

Pine Forest blitzed the Eagles Thursday in Lillington. Western Harnett (0-1-1) will play at Overhills at 6 p.m. Monday.

Carolina Friends 4, O'Neal 0

Carolina Friends (3-0) stayed perfect at O'Neal Thursday afternoon. The Falcons (0-3-1) will play at St. David's at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.


Union Pines 3, Western Harnett 1

The Lady Vikings (2-1) prevailed at former conference mate Western Harnett (1-2) Thursday evening. Alex Prots led Union Pines with seven kills and Stephanie Johnson had six blocks. Johnson and Melissa Green led the Viking serving.

Union Pines will play at Richmond County at 6 p.m. Monday. Western Harnett plays next at Pinecrest at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Overhills d. Harnett Central 20-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-19

The Lady Jaguars (3-0) defeated their second county rival of the opening week Thursday night in Spring Lake.

Katie Keen had 14 assists for the Lady Jaguars while Jordan Forbess had 12 digs and Jaylen Smalls had seven kills.

Harnett Central (0-2) plays at South Johnston at 10 a.m. today. Overhills will play at Pinecrest at 6 p.m. Monday.

Northwood 3, Jordan-Matthews 0

Northwood (1-1) got its first win of the season with a sweep over the Lady Jets (0-2) in Siler City Thursday night. Northwood will host Chapel Hill in a Big Eight Conference match at 6 p.m. Thursday. Jordan-Matthews will host Chatham Central at 6 p.m. Monday.

Gray Stone Day 3, Chatham Central 0

Gray Stone Day (2-0, 1-0) beat the visiting Lady Bears (1-1, 1-1) Thursday. Chatham Central visits Jordan-Matthews Monday evening.

Pine Forest 3, Pinecrest 0

Pine Forest swept the visiting Lady Patriots Thursday night. Pinecrest (1-2) will host Overhills at 6 p.m. Monday.


Northwood 5, Southern Lee 4

Northwood edged the Lady Cavaliers in a non-conference match in Pittsboro Thursday afternoon. Hannah Holloway, Emma Goodrich and Elise Crawford won at the top three singles spots for Northwood. Holloway and Goodrich won in doubles as did Crawford and Maya Shuler.

The Lady Chargers (1-0) will host Chapel Hill at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Southern Lee will play at Union Pines at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Lady Knights won at Yadkin Valley match versus Chatham Central in Misenheimer on Thursday. The Lady Bears (0-1, 0-1) will play at East Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The JV Cavaliers (1-0) opened the season with a victory at home Thursday night. Southern Lee will host Northwood this coming Thursday. Western Harnett (0-1) will host Harnett Central Thursday.

Pinecrest 26, Overhills 0

Pinecrest (1-0) shut out the visiting Jaguars (0-1) Thursday night in Southern Pines. Pinecrest will host Douglas Byrd on Thursday. Overhills will host Triton Thursday.

Providence Grove beat the visiting Jets (0-1) in JV play Thursday night. The Jets will host Chatham Central this coming Thursday.
