Girls basketball

Grace Christian 68, Vandalia Christian 54

Karinda Farrant tallied 24 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals leading Grace Christian (16-2, 5-1) to a non-conference win at Vandalia Christian (4-9) Thursday night.

The Lady Crusaders got out to a good start, holding a 20-18 lead after a quarter and going on to a 35-26 lead at halftime.

Anna Murr had 22 points. Farrant and Murr combined for 29 of the 33 Lady Crusader points in the second half. Alexis Ross had 17 points and eight rebounds.

Grace Christian hit the road again last night for a Carolina Christian Conference game at Trinity Academy. The Lady Crusaders will host Cape Fear Christian for a CCC game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Boys basketball

Vandalia Christian 65, Grace Christian 62

Zach Boggs poured in 32 points but his three-point shot at the buzzer rimmed out and Vandalia Christian edged Grace Christian Thursday night in Greensboro.

"We ran the play right, it just didn't go in," said Grace Christian head coach Joel Murr. "Our kids battled hard tonight against a great team. (Vandalia is) the defending state champs of Class 3A NCCSA (North Carolina Christian School Association)."

William Kerr and Braxton Diekhopf scored 14 points each for the Crusaders.

Tim Daniels scored 18 points and Ethan Willis had 13 points for Vandalia.

The Crusaders (8-10, 4-3) played at Trinity Academy last night and will host Cape Fear Christian at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Chatham Central (14-4, 7-0) made it three Yadkin Valley dual wins in two nights in Bear Creek Thursday night, winning a rescheduled meeting versus West Montgomery. The Bears will go for an undefeated YVC regular season with two duals at East Montgomery set for Wednesday night.
