Terry Sanford, Lee County lead Conference Cup race
Wells Fargo, along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), announced the final standings in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions for the 2013 fall sports season earlier this week.
In the 3A Cape Fear Valley Conference, Terry Sanford leads the Conference Cup standings and Lee County is second through the fall sports seasons concluding.
The Bulldogs won conference titles in boys soccer, girls golf, girls tennis and boys cross country and have 45 points. The Yellow Jackets won the CFVC volleyball title and finished runner-up in football to have 37 points.
Union Pines is third with 35 points. Southern Lee with 26, Gray's Creek with 22, Douglas Byrd with 14 and Westover with 10 rounds out the CFVC cup standings with the winter and spring to play.

The Wells Fargo Cup award recognizes the high schools which achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications.
The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo Cup and recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within conferences.
In most conferences, points are awarded based on participation and standings in conference play. Each conference determines its own method of awarding points.
