Lady Camels fall at N.C. A&T, 62-47

Campbell was outscored 13-2 in the first five minutes and could not complete a second-half rally in a 62-47 loss at North Carolina A&T on Monday night.

Junior guard Kiera Gaines tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Camels at Corbett Sports Center.
North Carolina A&T (10-2) forced 28 turnovers in the contest, leading to 28 points in transition. Tracy King posted a game-high 17 points followed by Ariel Bursey and Debbie Smith with 11 and 10 points each.
Both teams shot 37 percent from the field during the game, but N.C. A&T made six three-point field goals, three more than the Lady Camels (8-6).
The Aggies controlled the boards with 19 offensive rebounds and tallied a 42-38 advantage overall. Despite being outrebounded, Campbell went to the post often and registered a 22-14 advantage in the paint.
Senior forward Roslyn Presley went 6-of-9 from the field and scored 12 points. Ashley James and RaeChaun Edwards added five points each. James and Presley each grabbed six boards .
The Lady Camels did forced nine steals and 21 turnovers during the contest that totaled 49 miscues.
N.C. A&T held a 27-15 advantage at the break after forcing 17 turnovers in the opening stanza.
Campbell begins a two-game homestand at Gore Arena/John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center on Thursday against Charleston Southern at 7 p.m.
