Eagles outlast Overhills in 11

Western Harnett 15, Overhills 14 - 11 innings

Western Harnett fell behind 9-0 in the first inning before rallying to beat the Jaguars in 11 innings in a Cape Fear Valley game at Western Harnett Friday night.

The Eagles (2-4, 1-2) played Harnett Central Saturday and will play at Douglas Byrd Tuesday at 7 p.m. Overhills (1-5, 1-2) will host Pine Forest Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Southern Lee 21, Westover 2

The Cavaliers (5-1, 2-0) routed the Wolverines to go to a five-game winning streak at home Friday night. The Cavs totaled 46 runs in a 3-0 record last week.

Southern Lee will play at Union Pines in a key Cape Fear Valley game Tuesday at 7 p.m.


Gray's Creek 7, Union Pines 1

Gray's Creek (5-1, 2-0) broke open what was a 1-1 game going to the fifth inning in Cameron Friday night. Gatlin Pate and Brandon Diggs homered for the Bears.

The Vikings (5-2, 2-1) host Jordan-Matthews on Monday before hosting the Cavs Tuesday night.

Chatham Central 12, North Rowan 0

The Bears (2-2, 2-1) put six runs up in the second inning for an 8-0 lead and went on to a Yadkin Valley win in six innings at North Rowan (2-4, 1-3) Friday night.

Seth Elkins went 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI for the Bears. Chase Fuquay got the win pitching four innings, giving up three hits and striking out eight.

Chatham Central played East Surry Saturday and will host South Davidson in a YVC game Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Jordan-Matthews 3, Reidsville 1

The Jets got out to a 2-0 lead through two innings and hung on for a tight Mid-State win at Reidsville Friday night. Josh Hudson got the victory for the Jets (5-1, 1-0).

The Jets play at Union Pines Monday at 7 p.m.


Northwood 15, Roxboro Community 1

Northwood cruised to a Carolina 12 win at home Friday night. The Chargers (5-1, 3-0) have outscored opponents 55-2 in their last four games.

Northwood will play at River Mill Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Pinecrest 4, Lumberton 1

The Patriots (7-0, 2-0) stayed undefeated Friday night, taking the lead with a three-run bottom of the sixth. Pinecrest hosts Scotland in another Southeastern game Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Harnett Central 10, Southeast Raleigh 0

The Trojans (3-0, 1-0) opened up their Greater Neuse River season with a five-inning win Friday night. Harnett Central played Western Harnett yesterday and will go to Clayton Tuesday at 7 p.m.

North Stanly 4, North Moore 2

North Stanly edged the visiting Mustangs (3-3, 3-1) in a non-league game Friday night. North Moore will host East Montgomery in a YVC game Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Softball

Union Pines 5, Gray's Creek 3

The Lady Vikings (3-1, 2-0) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first three innings and beat visiting Gray's Creek (4-3, 0-2) in a Cape Fear Valley game Friday. Union Pines will host Lee County Monday at 7 p.m.


Chatham Central 10, North Rowan 0

Chatham Central (5-0, 5-0) rolled past visiting North Rowan Friday night. The Lady Bears are No. 3 in the current N.C. Softball Coaches Association 1A state poll and beat No. 1 South Stanly 2-0 on Wednesday.

The Lady Bears will play at South Davidson Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Jordan-Matthews 19, Reidsville 0

The Lady Jets (2-0, 2-0) routed Reidsville for a Mid-State win Friday. Jordan-Matthews will go to Cummings Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start.

Harnett Central 10, Southeast Raleigh 0

Harnett Central (2-2, 1-0) started its Greater Neuse River slate with a win at home Friday night. The Lady Trojans will play at Fuquay-Varina Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Girls soccer

Triton 4, Southern Lee 2

The host Lady Hawks broke a 2-2 halftime score with two goals in the second half to beat visiting Southern Lee Friday night.

Triton (4-2, 2-1) will host Cleveland in an ECC match Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Cavaliers (1-2, 1-0) host Westover in a CFVC match Monday at 6 p.m.


Grace Christian 2, Wayne Country Day 2

Grace Christian took the lead with Madison Bolen's free kick goal in the 18th minute. The visiting Lady Chargers (2-0-1) got the next two goals. Bridgette Angeles scored off an assist by Bolen making it 2-2 in the 30th minute and the draw stuck from there.

The Lady Crusaders outshot the visitors 14-7. Sarah Beard made five saves for Grace.

Grace Christian (2-1-1) will host Fayetteville Homeschool Tuesday at 5 p.m.


Millbrook 1, Pinecrest 0

Millbrook (6-0) edged the visiting Lady Patriots (4-1-1, 3-0-0) Friday afternoon. Pinecrest played Jacksonville yesterday and will host Scotland in an SEC game Monday at 7 p.m.


Boys lacrosse

Northwood 4, Orange 3

The Chargers (1-2) got their first win of the season on the road Friday night.

Eric Franklin made 22 saves for the Chargers and Wesley Meyer had two goals and an assist.

Northwood will host Northern Durham Monday at 6 p.m.
