Lynn in contention in Dominican Republic Open
With an eagle on a par four helping out on his front nine, Sanford native and Overhills grad Chip Lynn carded a two-under par 70 for a three-under par overall score through Friday's third round of the Dominican Republic Open.
Lynn is playing his debut event on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica NEC Series. He's shot rounds of 70, 73 and 70 at the Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay, playing at par 72 and 7,253 yards, to be tied for 10th and six shots behind leader Maxi Godoy, of Argentina, who has a two-shot lead on the field.
Lynn made 12 pars, four birdies and two bogies in his opening round on Wednesday. With three birdies in the first six holes of his second round, Lynn was to five-under par before falling back in the pack later in his round.
On Friday, Lynn, who agreed to a sponsorship with Carolina Trace Country Club last week, made birdies on No. 3 and No. 5, both par fours, before making a two on the par-four seventh to go to five-under par for the tournament at that point.
Lynn plays regularly on the eGolf Professional Tour and the National Golf Association Tour.
The fourth and final round of the Dominican Republic Open is set for Saturday.
