Lynn struggles in last round of D.R. Open
After spending all of the first 54 holes at or under par, Chip Lynn carded an 80 to finish five-over par and in a tie for 37th place, in the Dominican Republic Open on the PGA Latinoamerica Tour Saturday at the Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay.
Lynn, a Sanford native, made his PGA Latinoamerica debut this week and played himself to near the top of the leaderboard, a tie for 10th, entering Saturday’s fourth round. With an eagle on the par-four seventh hole included, Lynn shot two-under par 70 Friday to be three-under for the tournament.
On Saturday, Lynn made par on his first three holes before making a double bogey on the par-three fourth. Lynn made 13 birdies and an eagle through three rounds but only one birdie in the final round.
Ryan Blaum, of Miami, Fla., shot back-to-back 68s in rounds three and four to finish nine-under par and win, winning $27,000. Argentinean Maxi Godoy led going into Saturday before shooting 74 and finishing runner-up by two strokes.
