Campbell returns to action at home tonight
Campbell (3-6) returns to action after a week-long break for final exams against NAIA school Rio Grande tonight at 7 p.m.
With most Campbell students on Christmas break, all adult single-game tickets will be only $5 and kids ages 18-and-under will be admitted free through CU basketball games of Jan. 5.
The Camels have been idle since a 61-58 setback on Dec. 4 versus Robert Morris. CU's Marvelle Harris scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his third career double-double but the Camels lost when Karvel Anderson hit a three-pointer from the right wing with 4.5 seconds to play.
Rio Grande stands 4-7 on the year and 0-4 on the road. The Red Storm is led by 6-foot-4 freshman guard D.D. Joiner, who is averaging 16.1 points.
Campbell continues to lead the Big South in team field goal percentage (.462) after connecting on 52 percent of its attempts against Robert Morris.
Senior guard Darren White, who has missed the last two games with a hand injury, continues to lead the Big South and rank seventh nationally in scoring at 21.9 points per game.
Only six Camels have played in all nine games this year, thanks mainly to a rash of injuries. Trey Freeman is the lone CU player to start each of the first nine outings.
Following Wednesday’s contest, the Camels embark on a two-game swing to the Pacific Northwest. Campbell plays at No. 14 Gonzaga on Dec. 19 and at Seattle on Dec. 22 at Key Arena, former home of the Seattle SuperSonics.
