Jackets win first game in Asheboro tourney

Lee County 7, Eastern Randolph 5

The Yellow Jackets snapped a 5-5 tie with two runs in the top of the sixth and held on from there to beat Eastern Randolph (6-6) on the first night of the Asheboro Copperhead Classic at McCrary Park Monday night.

Lee County (4-7, 3-5) faced Asheboro last night and will play Providence Grove today at 5:30 p.m. at McCrary Park.

Clayton 15, Harnett Central 8

Clayton (7-5, 4-1) beat the Trojans (8-3, 4-1) in a non-league game in the Johnston County Easter Invitational on Monday. After a 6-6 score through two frames, the Comets got five runs in the third and four more in the fourth.

Tyler Hart hit a home run for the Trojans and Cole Hart had two RBI.


Softball

Northwood 12, Cary Academy 2

The Lady Chargers (7-0, 5-0) remained perfect with a victory at Cary Academy on Monday. Northwood's allowed seven runs total this season.

Northwood played Union Pines last night and will play a Carolina 12 game at Franklin Academy Thursday at 5 p.m.


Girls soccer

Northwood 2, Union Pines 2

The Lady Chargers (2-5-1, 1-3-0) drew against visiting Union Pines (6-1-1, 4-0-0) in a non-conference match Monday night. Northwood will play at Franklin Academy on Friday at 5 p.m. Union Pines faced O'Neal last night and will host Westover Monday at 6 p.m.
