Area scores: Crusaders net nine in CCC win

Grace Christian 9, Cape Fear Christian 0

The Crusaders (12-2-1, 5-0-0) remained perfect in Carolina Christian Conference play at home Tuesday afternoon.

Joe Urrutia and Jose Leonidez led the Crusaders with two goals each. Evan Kannarr, Ricardo Castanedas, Brandon Monroy, Sergio Charco and Nathan Holt scored a goal apiece.

Grace Christian will host Greenfield at 5 p.m. today in a rematch of last season's NCISAA 1A state championship match which Greenfield won 1-0 over the Crusaders.


Jordan-Matthews 2, Eastern Randolph 0

The Jets (7-3, 1-0) got their fourth straight victory defeating rival Eastern Randolph, although not a conference rival any longer, Tuesday night. Cirrilo Rangel and Darwin Ramirez netted the Jet goals.

Jordan-Matthews played at Graham last night and will host Carrboro at 6 p.m. Monday.

Pinecrest 2, East Chapel Hill 2

The Patriots (7-0-2, 2-0-0) drew at East Chapel Hill Tuesday after a 4-1 victory versus East Chapel Hill earlier this month.

Pinecrest played Purnell Swett last night and will host Richmond at 7 p.m. Monday.


Pine Forest 5, Triton 0

Pine Forest (9-1) pulled away from a 1-0 halftime score to win at Triton (2-6-1) Tuesday night. Triton plays at Harnett Central at 6:30 p.m. this evening.


Volleyball

Community Christian d. Lee Christian 25-14, 25-20, 16-25, 22-25, 15-9

Community Christian (5-4, 3-2) lost a two-set lead but prevailed in the tiebreaker in a Carolina Christian match at Lee Christian Tuesday. The Lady Falcons (4-3, 4-2) will play a CCC match at Cape Fear Christian at 5 p.m. Friday.

Jack Britt d. Overhills 25-18, 25-14, 20-25, 25-23

Jack Britt (6-2, 4-1) beating the visiting Lady Jaguars (8-5, 4-2) in a key Mid-South Athletic Conference match Tuesday night. Overhills hosts South View in a MSAC match at 6 p.m. this evening.

Pinecrest 3, Richmond 0

Pinecrest (6-7, 2-1) swept visiting Richmond in a Southeastern Conference match Tuesday night. Pinecrest played Terry Sanford last night and is playing at Hoke County at 6 p.m. tonight.

Triton d. Smithfield-Selma 25-11, 25-15, 25-22

Triton (7-1, 3-0) won its seventh straight match at home Tuesday night. The Lady Hawks have another Two Rivers match hosting Western Harnett at 5:30 p.m. this evening.

South Johnston d. Western Harnett 25-18, 25-15, 25-15

South Johnston (7-5, 1-2) topped the Lady Eagles (3-7, 1-2) in a Two Rivers match Tuesday night. Western Harnett plays a conference match at Triton at 5:30 p.m. this evening.

Harnett Central d. West Johnston 25-11, 25-20, 25-15

Harnett Central (2-11, 2-5) swept visiting West Johnston for a Greater Neuse River win Tuesday.

Andrea Hawley made 13 digs for the Lady Trojans. Natalie Stewart had 12 assists, Anna Bain had six kills and Whitney Fish had five aces.

The Lady Trojans host Clayton at 5:30 p.m. today.

Carrboro d. Jordan-Matthews 25-3, 25-11, 25-7

The Lady Jaguars (7-6, 3-0) rolled to a Mid-State win at Jordan-Matthews Tuesday night. The Lady Jets (1-11, 0-2) play at Bartlett Yancey at 6 p.m. tonight.

North Moore 3, Chatham Central 2

The Lady Mustangs (5-6, 3-4) won a Yadkin Valley match at Chatham Central (3-8, 2-6) Tuesday night. North Moore played at South Stanly last night and will host North Rowan at 6 p.m. Friday. The Lady Bears play next at Providence Grove at 6 p.m. Monday.

Northwood 3, Northern Vance 0

Northwood (3-6, 1-5) won a Big Eight match in straight sets at home Tuesday night. The Lady Chargers play a conference match at Southern Durham at 6 p.m. tonight.
