Jordan-Matthews 59, Reidsville 57

Jordan-Matthews (21-2, 10-1) gained control of its own destiny with one Mid-State game to play, at home against Reidsville Friday at 6 p.m., with a win at Reidsville (17-2, 8-1) Tuesday night.

Senior Mylia Garner led the Lady Jets with 26 points and Erin Bristow added 12 points.

Kennethea Galloway scored 19 points for Reidsville.

The Lady Jets will win the Mid-State season title with a win Friday.

Athens Drive 61, Lee County 17

Athens Drive got out to a 26-8 halftime lead and kept pulling away over visiting Lee County Tuesday night.

Taylor Cesarski led the Lady Jaguars (12-10, 8-7) with 19 points.

Sarah Van Steen scored five points and Quitta Wilson added four points for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Lee County (5-18, 0-15) will have its Senior Night Friday against Holly Springs with a 7 p.m. tip.


Northwood 66, South Granville 38

Northwood (19-4, 14-1) rolled to a season sweep at South Granville Tuesday night, staying a half-game behind River Mill (14-0 Carolina 12) for first in the Carolina 12.

Shontai Totten led the Lady Chargers with 19 points and Alexis Brower scored 16 points. Northwood led 32-14 at halftime.

Northwood hosts Granville Central Friday at 6 p.m.


Triton 44, C.B. Aycock 43

Triton (10-12, 6-5) won the fourth period 14-9 to edge visiting C.B. Aycock (10-12, 6-5) Tuesday night.

Senior Mallary Caroway had 14 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three blocks while senior Keitora Smith had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Triton.

The Lady Hawks host North Lenoir tonight at 6:30 p.m.


Fayetteville Academy 46, O'Neal 25

Fayetteville Academy eliminated O'Neal (3-20) from the Cape Fear Independent Conference Tournament Tuesday.

Kelly Post led Fayetteville Academy with 14 points. Maggie Jackson and Taylor Shelton scored six points each for the Lady Falcons.

Pinecrest 56, Richmond 41

The Lady Patriots (13-8, 6-3) beat Richmond (5-15, 3-6) for the third time this season in their regular-season home finale Tuesday.

Pinecrest travels to face Hoke County Friday at 6 p.m.


Gray Stone Day 50, North Moore 43

Gray Stone Day avenged a 26-point win by North Moore in January by beating the visiting Lady Mustangs Tuesday.

North Moore (12-10, 7-8) hosts Chatham Central Friday at 6 p.m. to finish both squads' regular seasons.

Chatham Central 55, Albemarle 50

The Lady Bears finished a season sweep over Albemarle and won for the fourth time in five games Tuesday at Albemarle.

Chatham Central (10-11, 9-6) plays at North Moore Friday at 6 p.m.


Westover 45, Western Harnett 21

Westover jumped out to a 19-4 lead through one period and rolled past Western Harnett (1-20, 1-11) in Fayetteville Tuesday night.

Airico Williams and Kylah Saylon scored 14 points each for Westover (14-8, 7-4).

Westover hosts Union Pines tonight at 6 p.m.

Western Harnett moves on to the Cape Fear Valley Conference Tournament which starts Monday.

Harnett Central 68, Knightdale 42

Harnett Central (18-3, 9-3) got a pair of double-doubles inside and routed visiting Knightdale (7-15, 5-8) in a Greater Neuse River game Tuesday night.

DeAnneisha Jackson had 23 points and 11 rebounds while Jalisia Campbell had 10 points and 10 boards. Maya Banks added 15 points for the Lady Trojans. Harnett Central jumped out to a 20-6 lead through one quarter.

The Lady Trojans play at Southeast Raleigh tonight at 6 p.m.

Boys basketball

Northwood 62, South Granville 52

The Chargers (14-9, 11-4) avenged a 58-43 loss to South Granville on Jan. 11 with a win at South Granville (14-8, 9-5). The Chargers rallied from a 26-18 halftime deficit.

Northwood hosts Granville Central Friday at 7:30 p.m. to finish its regular season.

Jordan-Matthews 61, Reidsville 50 - OT

The Jets needed overtime but got past home-standing Reidsville (2-17, 1-8) Tuesday night.

Derek Hamilton led the Jets with 14 points. Casey Golden and Jaleel Dunn scored 11 points each.

Jordan-Matthews (18-5, 6-5) hosts Reidsville for its regular-season finale Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Albemarle 79, Chatham Central 50

Albemarle (17-2, 13-2) rolled to a Yadkin Valley win over the visiting Bears (6-14, 5-10) Tuesday night.

Terrace Ellis scored 18 points, including making 4-of-6 three-pointers, for Albemarle.

Zack Burke led the Bears with 17 points, seven rebounds and five steals. LaQuinn Mordecai and Matt Clark scored 10 points each.

Chatham Central plays at North Moore Friday at 7:30 p.m.


North Moore 72, Gray Stone Day 40

The Mustangs trailed 17-3 after one quarter before routing Gray Stone Day in a Yadkin Valley game Tuesday night.

North Moore answered to have a 27-24 halftime lead, then lead 52-28 after the third quarter.

The Mustangs (13-9, 10-5) host Chatham Central Friday at 7:30 p.m.


Westover 75, Western Harnett 41

Westover (18-4, 10-1) clinched at least a share of the Cape Fear Valley season title with a win over the visiting Eagles (2-22, 1-11).

Titus Gary led the Wolverines with 20 points and Alfonzo Josey added 12 points. Rory Saliger Jr. led the Eagles with 11 points.

Westover can win the title outright as it hosts Union Pines tonight at 7:30 p.m. Western Harnett moves on to the CFVC Tournament next week.


Knightdale 67, Harnett Central 57

Knightdale (12-8, 6-5) beat Harnett Central for the second time this season in Angier Tuesday night.

Hunter Baker had 17 points and six rebounds for the Trojans (9-12, 5-7) and Don Singletary had 12 points and nine assists.

Harnett Central plays at Southeast Raleigh tonight at 8 p.m.


Richmond 49, Pinecrest 47

Richmond (17-5, 7-2) rallied from a 29-18 Patriot lead at halftime to win in Southern Pines Tuesday night.

Shydamion Ellerbe led the Raiders with 18 points. Adam Cummings scored 15 points and Justin Ray added 10 points for the Patriots (14-7, 5-4).

Pinecrest plays at Hoke County Friday at 7:30 p.m.


Triton 57, C.B. Aycock 42

The Hawks (19-3, 10-1) clinched the Eastern Carolina season title with a home victory over C.B. Aycock (12-10, 7-4) Tuesday night.

Alex Burnett led Triton with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Maurice McBryde added 11 points.

Triton hosts North Lenoir to finish the regular season tonight at 8 p.m.


O'Neal 44, Fayetteville Christian 42

The Falcons (11-13) advanced through the first round of the Cape Fear Independent Conference Tournament Tuesday night in Southern Pines. It was O'Neal's third win in three meetings with Fayetteville Christian this season.

The Falcons advance to play Fayetteville Academy Friday at 8:30 p.m. in a semifinal.
