Cavaliers rout Union Pines, 6-0, stay tied for first

The Cavaliers (15-0-2, 9-0-1) rolled to a win and a regular-season sweep of the visiting Vikings (6-8-3, 3-7-1) to set up a major showdown, likely for the Cape Fear Valley season title, at Terry Sanford (16-1-1, 9-0-1) at 7 p.m. Monday.
Southern Lee and Terry Sanford drew, 2-2, at Cavalier Stadium on Sept. 18. If there's a winner in Fayetteville on Monday, that side will clinch the CFVC championship.
Southern Lee will have its senior night and MVP Night hosting Lee County at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Union Pines will play at Gray's Creek at 7 p.m. Monday and conclude its regular season hosting Scotland Thursday at 7 p.m.

Harnett Central 4, Knightdale 0
The Trojans (5-9-1, 2-6-0) blanked Knightdale in a Greater Neuse River match Thursday night. Harnett Central will host Garner at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Cleveland 5, Western Harnett 2
The Rams (5-9-1, 3-2-1) topped the Eagles in a Two Rivers match Thursday night. Western Harnett (2-11-2, 1-5-0) will play another league match at Smithfield-Selma at 6 p.m. Monday.

O'Neal 1, Fayetteville Christian 1
Following a Fayetteville Christian goal in the 55th minute, the Falcons got the tying goal with Richard Catania scoring in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time for a draw in Cape Fear Independent play Thursday afternoon in Southern Pines.
The Falcons (9-6-1, 6-2-1) will finish their regular season hosting Fayetteville Academy at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Volleyball
Cleveland d. Western Harnett 18-25, 25-12, 25-9, 25-16
Cleveland (8-9, 6-4) beat the visiting Lady Eagles (7-12, 3-7) in a Two Rivers Conference match Thursday. The Two Rivers Tournament will start Monday at Cleveland. The semifinals and final, set for Tuesday and Wednesday, will be hosted by top-seed Triton.

Triton d. Corinth Holders 25-21, 17-25, 25-21, 25-17
Triton (15-2, 10-0) defeated Corinth Holders (12-5, 6-4) Thursday night to complete a perfect run to the Two Rivers Conference season title. The Lady Hawks have a seven-match winning streak going into the postseason.
The Two Rivers Conference Tournament begins Monday with two matches at Cleveland. Triton will host the semifinals and final.

Jack Britt 3, Overhills 1
Jack Britt topped the Lady Jaguars (11-10, 7-5) in their regular-season finale Thursday night. The Mid-South Athletic Conference Tournament will begin Monday at Pine Forest.

Pine Forest 3, Pinecrest 1
Pine Forest (17-3) snapped a five-match Lady Patriot winning streak Thursday night in Southern Pines. Pinecrest (14-11, 7-3) will play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament starting Monday.
