Chatham Central (19-4) prevailed, with three matches to spare, at Rosewood (32-2) in a semifinal of the 1A state tournament Thursday night. The Bears will host Western Highland Conference champ Mitchell (36-7) in the state final at 5 p.m. Saturday. Chatham Central will be vying for its second team state championship, the first being in 2005.

Morehead defeated Union Pines in a quarterfinal of the 3A state tournament Thursday night in Cameron. Morehead (37-1) continued on to defeat Swansboro in a semifinal.
The Vikings finish the team season as Cape Fear Valley Conference season and tournament champs and with a 14-4 dual record.

Boys basketball
Southeast Raleigh 58, Harnett Central 52
Southeast Raleigh (11-7, 7-5) edged the visiting Trojans in a Greater Neuse River Conference game Thursday night.
Sophomore Anthony Staton had 19 points, including 3 of 4 three-pointers, for the Trojans. Don Singletary added 11 points and seven assists.
Harnett Central (5-14, 1-9) hosted Rolesville last night and will host East Wake at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Girls basketball
Southeast Raleigh 62, Harnett Central 16
Southeast Raleigh (17-2, 10-0) blitzed to a 34-4 lead by halftime and rolled to a GNRC win over the Lady Trojans (8-11, 3-7).
Denise McNeill led Harnett Central with seven points.
The Lady Trojans hosted Rolesville last night and will host East Wake at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
