Area scores: Jackets, Vikings play to scoreless draw

Lee County 0, Union Pines 0
The host Yellow Jackets and Vikings played to a draw through 80 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime Monday evening in a Cape Fear Valley match.
Lee County won the junior varsity match 4-1 over the Vikings.
Lee County (2-3-1, 1-1-1) plays at Western Harnett at 6 p.m. this evening. Union Pines (2-2-3, 0-2-1) hosts Southern Lee at 5 p.m. today.

Chapel Hill 4, Northwood 1
Chapel Hill (6-1-1, 1-0-0) scored three goals in the last 11 minutes of the match to turn a 1-1 score into a Big Eight Conference win in Pittsboro Monday evening.
J.R. Godwin scored the lone Charger goal. Northwood (3-2, 0-1) plays another Big Eight match at Cardinal Gibbons at 6:45 p.m. tonight.

Clayton 5, Harnett Central 1
Clayton (5-1-1, 1-0-0)  pulled away from a 1-0 halftime score for a Greater Neuse River win at home Monday evening. The Trojans (2-3-1, 0-1-0) hosted Overhills last night and are hosting Southeast Raleigh at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Jordan-Matthews 1, Providence Grove 0
The Jets (4-3, 0-0) completed a season sweep of the Patriots at Providence Grove Monday night. The Jets host Eastern Randolph at 6 p.m. tonight.

Triton 3, Overhills 2
Triton rallied from a 2-0 Jaguar lead at halftime to complete a season sweep over the county rival Monday night. Christian Canales, Bailey Tart and Gilberto Olivares scored a goal each for the Hawks. Canales had two assists and Tart had an assist.
Triton (2-5-1, 0-0-0) will host Pine Forest on Sept. 17. Overhills (2-2-2, 1-0-1) played Harnett Central last night and is hosting conference foe Seventy-First at 6 p.m. this evening.

North Moore 6, East Montgomery 0
Six Mustangs scored a goal apiece and North Moore (4-0-1, 2-0-0) handed East Montgomery its first Yadkin Valley loss Monday night in Robbins.
Iban Catalan and Fernando Lopez scored putting North Moore ahead 2-0 in the first three minutes of the match. Eddie Garcia, Alejandro Mendoza, Eduardo Hernandez and Pedro Ugarte scored a goal each.
North Moore plays at South Davidson at 6 p.m. this evening.

Cape Fear topped the visiting Lady Jaguars in a Mid-South Athletic match Monday afternoon. Overhills (3-1, 3-1) played at Jack Britt yesterday and will go to South View Thursday for a match at 4 p.m.

Chatham Central 8, Queens Grant 1
The Lady Bears (4-2, 4-2) defeated the Lady Stallions (1-5, 0-5) in a Yadkin Valley match in Matthews Monday. Chatham Central hosts North Moore at 4:30 p.m. today.

Gray Stone Day 9, North Moore 0
Gray Stone Day blanked the visiting Lady Mustangs in a Yadkin Valley match Monday. North Moore (4-2, 4-2) plays at Chatham Central at 4:30 p.m. today.

Northwood (2-4, 0-3) finished a season sweep with a sweep over the visiting Lady Jets (1-8, 0-0) Monday night. The Lady Chargers played at Cedar Ridge last night and will play at Orange at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Jets played at Reidsville last night and will play at Graham at 6 p.m. Thursday.

E.E. Smith d. Pinecrest 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 15-13
Pinecrest rallied back from a 2-0 deficit but couldn't make it all the way back at E.E. Smith Monday night.
Katie Smith had 24 digs and 14 assists and Devin Lally led the Lady Patriot hitting with 13 kills.
The Lady Patriots (5-6, 0-1) played at Scotland last night and will host Purnell Swett at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Union Pines d. West Montgomery 20-25, 25-21, 26-24, 26-24
The Lady Vikings (7-3, 3-1) earned a split for the season versus West Montgomery (9-1) Monday evening in Cameron.
Stephanie Johnson had nine kills and six blocks and Rachel Strickland had seven kills and four blocks for the Lady Vikings. Megan Harris had 18 assists.
Union Pines played at Douglas Byrd last night and will host Gray's Creek at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

North Moore d. O'Neal 25-19, 14-25, 21-25, 25-13, 15-12
North Moore (4-4, 2-3) won the last two sets to rally and prevail at O'Neal (3-5, 1-1) Monday night. The Lady Mustangs will host Gray Stone Day at 6 p.m. Thursday. O'Neal will play at Trinity School at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Western Harnett 3, Overhills 2
Western Harnett (2-4, 0-0) rallied from two sets down to avenge a loss in August to Overhills (7-3, 3-0) Monday night in Lillington.
The Lady Eagles played their first Two Rivers Conference match at Corinth Holders last night and will host Smithfield-Selma in a conference match at 5 p.m. Thursday. Overhills played at Pine Forest last night and will host E.E. Smith at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Triton 3, Cape Fear 0
The Lady Hawks (4-1, 0-0) swept Cape Fear for a second time this season Monday night. Triton played South Johnston last night and will play at Cleveland at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
