Falcons hold middle school sports banquet

Lee Christian held its Middle School Awards Night Tuesday. Falcon volleyball, soccer, cross country, basketball and softball athletes were recognized for their seasons.

The annual event for Lee Christian Athletics had been held in one night but was split into two nights this year because of the growth of the middle school athletics program. The banquet was held at the school in a more relaxed atmosphere. The athletes were served pizza, salad, drinks and dessert.

“We thought this would be more of what the younger kids would like so we decided to try it this year,” said Lee Christian Booster Club president Steven Lane.

“We had an overwhelming positive response from parents who like having the relaxed evening as opposed to the semi-formal banquet for JV and varsity athletics. We will most likely do this again next year,” said Lane.

The evening began with school administrator Dr. Stephen Coble opening with prayer and blessing the meal.  Bruce O’Quinn, Lee Christian’s athletic director, gave high praise to both the parents and their children for this past year and their representation of Lee Christian.

“I would love to continue to see the middle school program expand next year to include more teams. Middle school is the foundation on which we are building," O'Quinn said.
