Falcons celebrate their sports year

May. 21, 2014 @ 05:00 AM

Lee Christian held its annual Athletic Banquet in celebration of its athletic year Friday night at a full Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The banquet was the culmination of the year's successes and a celebration of the student-athletes.

Steven Lane, the Lee Christian Booster Club president, praised all of the Falcon athletes for their representation of the school throughout the year. Lane discussed the accomplishments of the Booster Club, including the purchase of a used bus for transportation of student-athletes. He gave special recognition and thanks to those who drove to and from venues while keeping the children safe during all of the travel.

Bruce O'Quinn, Lee Christian's athletic director, thanked the athletes and their families for all of the support they've given him during his first year as athletic director. He said he's proud of the athletes' actions on and off the courts and fields in holding to the traditions of Lee Christian.

Awards were presented by each coach to their respective team. Athletes who earned all-conference honors were recognized. There were two Outstanding Christian Leadership awards and two Athlete of the Year awards presented.

The evening finished with a senior slideshow presentation by yearbook leader Teshia Sloan and a closing prayer offered by Lee Christian administrator Dr. Stephen Coble.
