Lee Christian romps to 10-1 CCC win

Lee Christian’s girls soccer team scored early and often, rolling to a 10-1 win over visiting Crossroads Christian Friday afternoon.The win made it back-to-back Carolina Christian Conference victories for the Lady Falcons.

The Lady Falcons kept pressure on the Crossroads defense by working the ball well among their front six players.

“I am really proud of how the girls played today”, said assistant coach Steven Lane. “This was an outstanding effort by the whole team working together to get the win. We still have some things to work on but the teamwork shown today will pay off huge dividends by the end of the season.”Skylar Dubuc gave the Lady Falcons the lead in the seventh minute, scoring a goal on an assist by Whitney O’Quinn.

Cameron Dubuc scored the first of three consecutive goals she put away, getting a deflected ball from a Lady Colt defender and scoring into an open net in the 14th minute.

A crossing pass by O’Quinn set up Cameron Dubuc again for a goal in the 19th minute.

The Lady Colts made it 3-1 in the 24th minute but the Lady Falcons scored again with Cameron Dubuc getting the ball about 40 yards from goal, beating a defender, then pushing a shot by the keeper.

O’Quinn scored an unassisted goal in the 26th minute, dribbling through defenders in the middle of the field before shooting past the keeper for a 5-1 Lee Christian lead. O’Quinn scored again, off a Skylar Dubuc assist, two minutes later.

Goals by O’Quinn and Haley Draughn made it 8-1 Lady Falcons at halftime. O’Quinn netted her fourth goal, to go with three assists, in the 64th minute, and Skylar Dubuc scored her second goal in the 76th minute.

The Lady Falcons (2-4, 2-1) will continue their CCC play next week against crosstown rival Grace Christian on Monday at 5 p.m.
